Native American Capital (NAC), LLC Wins Native American Finance Officers Association (NAFOA) Deal-of-the-Year Award

WASHINGTON, D.C. (February 20, 2009) – Native American Capital (NAC), LLC, an ‘All Indian Country' financial advisory services firm, recently received the prestigious NAFOA Deal-of-the-Year award for partnering with Kickapoo Traditional Tribe of Texas (KTTT) in creating a highly innovative, new model for a ‘Native American CDFI’, or tribal community development financial institution fund.  With the assistance of NAC, KTTT established Kickapoo Community Development Company, LLC (KCDC), capitalized the new tribal CDFI, and took control of the tribal member/employee loan portfolio thereby significantly reducing the interest rate paid by tribal members by more than half. 

NAC's Private Equity Business Model for Indian Country

NAC has adapted the traditional private equity investment model to the unique challenges and opportunities of Indian Country. These challenges include underdeveloped infrastructure (e.g., lack of public transportation systems), unfamiliarity with Indian Country law, commerce, and opportunities on the part of many potential investors, and high rates of poverty in some parts of Indian Country.

NAC Investee, Nizhoni Keyah, Inc., Acquires Pueblo Food Specialties of Albuquerque, NM

NAC provided the equity capital for Native American food products and general merchandise distributor to begin aggressive product line and strategic markets expansion.

Silver Spring, MD (October 16, 2006) – Native American Capital, LP, a Silver Spring, MD-based American Indian owned private equity fund, announced today that one of its portfolio companies, Nizhoni Keyah Global Markets, LLC, an investor in Native American foods and general merchandise distribution businesses, has financed the acquisition of Pueblo Food Specialties (www.pueblosalsa.com), a Laguna Pueblo company, based in Albuquerque, NM.   The acquisition included all of the assets and their highly popular products.

Native American CDFI Coalition Holds Inaugural Meeting; Elects Board of Directors and Officers

New Venture Fund for Native Americans
Native American-owned businesses, especially those focused on government contracts, have been prospering in recent years. A newly created venture fund hopes to further fuel this boom and make some money in the process. Native American Capital is a newly created venture fund that plans to target investment toward Native American enterprises operating in traditional markets such as government contractors, gaming businesses, and firms providing health care on reservations.
