NAC Managing Director Gavin Clarkson has been appointed as the Indian Resource Development program’s interim director.

The Indian Resource Development Program (IRD) is a statewide program located at New Mexico State University (NMSU) and promotes higher education and economic development opportunities for research that benefits tribal communities in New Mexico. Positioning the IRD within the NMSU business college will open more opportunities for applied research that’s directly relevant to tribal communities. Fostering entrepreneurship among Native students is one of the objectives of the program. Creating self-sustaining tribal economies is important as there is a demand for consumption of goods and services on reservations yet few providers. Native American Capital’s own Gavin Clarkson is focusing on working with universities and tribal colleges that focus on educating Native youth and having a long-term positive effect on economic development on federally recognized Indian Reservations
