Nizhoni Keyah, Inc. Acquires Pueblo Food Specialties of Albuquerque, NM

NK LogoNAC provided the equity capital for Native American food products and general merchandise distributor to begin aggressive product line and strategic markets expansion.

Silver Spring, MD (October 16, 2006) - Native American Capital, LP, a Silver Spring, MD-based American Indian owned private equity fund, announced today that one of its portfolio companies, Nizhoni Keyah Global Markets, LLC, an investor in Native American foods and general merchandise distribution businesses, has financed the acquisition of Pueblo Food Specialties (www.pueblosalsa.com), a Laguna Pueblo company, based in Albuquerque, NM.   The acquisition included all of the assets and their highly popular products.

“We are delighted to have been able to support this acquisition by Nizhoni Keyah, Inc.,”said Joe Falkson, Senior Managing Director of Native American Capital.”

Added Pam Atcitty, Nizhoni Keyah’s Vice President, “It wasn’t just the financing from NAC that made this acquisition possible.  NAC management provided us with invaluable technical guidance and business forecasting about how these new product lines fit with our overall strategic market planning.”

“We have been exploring appropriate acquisition opportunities with Nizhoni Keyah’s management as part of our ongoing professional, financial, and technical support of the Company,” continued Falkson.   “When Pueblo Foods approached Nizhoni Keyah about the possibility of an acquisition, we were delighted to support it because of the quality of its products and the fact that it provides a significant increase in market share.  We are eager to continue supporting Nizhoni Keyah’s rapid expansion throughout Indian Country.”

Among the product lines absorbed by Nizhoni Keyah are Two Flaming Arrows Hot Sauce, Indian Summer Salsa, and Roasted Red Chili Sauces.   Currently these products are primarily distributed in the southwest.  Nizhoni Keyah will incorporate the acquired product lines in its national and emerging global distribution system.  Nizhoni Keyah was formed by Pam and R. Threehawk Atcitty in 2003 with headquarters in Orlando, FL.  Pueblo Foods production will remain in Alburqueque.

This acquisition is a fine example of how Native American Capital, L.P.’s targeted equity investments and managerial support advance economic growth of its portfolio companies.   Native American Capital, L.P. invests in companies that are either Native or Tribally owned or otherwise will provide benefits to Native Americans or Native American communities.
